This policy explains what the Readcue Chrome extension, API, and service providers handle.

Account and installation data

You can sign in with Google or with an email and password. Readcue stores your email, a password hash for email signup, a Google account identifier for Google sign-in, a random extension installation ID, and account creation and last-activity times. The extension stores your session token on your device.

Lookup data

When you look up text, the extension sends the selected text, the surrounding sentence, the website hostname, the lookup kind, and your output-language setting to the Readcue API. The hostname does not include the page path, query, or fragment. Readcue does not collect the full page URL.

Readcue stores each lookup attempt, including its time, success or failure status, response time, lookup kind and source, output and detected source languages, selected text when applicable, surrounding sentence, hostname, generated meaning and generated card, model provider and model, token usage, and model call count. Readcue uses these records to return lookup results, enforce the daily lookup allowance, diagnose failures, and measure service reliability and cost.

Service providers

DeepSeek or Google Gemini processes the selected text, surrounding sentence, lookup kind, and output language to generate an explanation. Readcue does not include the hostname or installation ID in the model prompt. Google also processes Google sign-in. Fly.io hosts the Readcue API, and Neon stores the production database.

Usage events

The extension sends an installation event and records when a signed-out user tries to look up text. These events include the random installation ID and, for a blocked lookup, the lookup kind and button source. They do not include the selected text, surrounding sentence, hostname, full URL, or email.

Feedback

When you submit feedback, Readcue stores your note, extension version, where you opened the report, and a link to the stored lookup described above. Authorized support staff may review this data to investigate the problem. Readcue does not post feedback to GitHub.

Retention and deletion

Readcue has no automatic deletion schedule. Account, lookup, usage-event, and feedback records remain stored until you ask Readcue to delete them. To request deletion, email adminreading99@gmail.com from your account email address. Readcue may retain records that it must keep for security or legal reasons.

How Readcue uses data

Readcue uses data only to provide and improve the lookup service, enforce limits, handle support requests, protect the service, and comply with law. Readcue does not sell data, use it for advertising, or use it to determine creditworthiness. Readcue's use and transfer of data follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Site disable

Whether lookup is enabled on a site is stored locally in the extension.
